The email wrapper is the shared HTML skeleton (header with logo, layout, footer) into which Portail ZAPP places the content of emails. It only applies to templates whose Wrap in email layout box is ticked (see "Manage message templates") and only to emails: notifications shown inside the application do not have it.
The Email wrapper screen (menu Administration › Appearance and languages › Email wrapper) is reserved for Administrators.
Which wrapper is used
Two wrappers are shipped: neutral-layout.html and banner-layout.html. The Active email theme line shows the one used for emails. It is chosen with the App:EmailTheme key on the Configuration screen: neutral or banner. Empty, or set to an unknown name, the neutral wrapper is used.
If the warning about App:BaseUrl is displayed, fill in this key in Configuration (the public address of the instance): without it, the logo and absolute links are omitted or broken in emails.
Customise a wrapper
The table lists each wrapper with its Status: Shipped layout or Overridden (you have replaced it).
- Download retrieves the file currently in use (your version if it is overridden).
- Edit it in an HTML editor.
- Choose the file on the same row, then Upload. The change applies immediately to all subsequent emails.
The file is rejected, with a message, if it is empty, larger than 128 KiB, does not look like HTML, contains a <script> tag or lacks the required content placeholder (written between double curly braces, as the error message shows). The available placeholders are listed below the table: content (the message content, required), logo_url, app_name, cta_button and footer.
Revert to shipped layout, on an overridden row, deletes your version: the original wrapper is used again.
Customised versions are stored in the Override folder shown at the bottom of the page, on the server. Remember to include it in your backups.
Check the result
The Preview of a template that uses the wrapper shows the complete email, wrapper included: it is the easiest way to check a change.
