Changing the database connection

Available in en es fr

Updated on 10/25/2026

The PostgreSQL connection screen (menu Administration › Instance and operations › Database connection) changes how Portail ZAPP reaches its PostgreSQL database after installation: password change, server change or encryption change. It is reserved for Administrators.

The fields

  • Host, Port, Database and Username: pre-filled with the current connection.

  • Password: leave the field blank to keep the current password.

  • Connection encryption:

    • Disabled — plain-text connection;
    • Allowed — plain text, encrypted only if the server requires it;
    • Preferred — encrypted when the server offers it (recommended);
    • Required — refused if the server does not encrypt;
    • Required, authority verified — the certificate must be trusted (name not checked);
    • Required, certificate verified — the server certificate must be trusted and carry its name.

    For a database on another machine, choose Required or Required, certificate verified.

Applying a new connection

  1. Test connection tries the values entered without saving anything: Connection successful. or an error message.
  2. Save and apply (after confirmation) tests the connection again; if it succeeds, it is saved and the Instance status screen opens with the message The new PostgreSQL connection has been saved. Restart the application below to apply it.
  3. Restart application from that screen: the new connection is only used after the restart.

A connection that fails the test is never saved.
