Produce images with AI

The Image capability generates an image from a prompt, or edits an existing image: you provide the image and a prompt, plus an optional mask (a PNG whose transparent areas mark what to change). The features that use it live in the modules or projects that need them; this page describes the capability and its settings.

Turn it on

In AI configuration, Capabilities tab, Image section, choose a Provider and click Save. While it is set to None (AI disabled), the features that produce images are hidden.

Provider Images to edit Default model
OpenAI PNG, JPEG, WEBP gpt-image-1
Azure OpenAI PNG, JPEG none: deployment name required
AI provided by the publisher PNG, JPEG, WEBP chosen by the publisher

The mask is always a PNG. Output formats: 1024×1024, 1024×1536, 1536×1024 or automatic. The API key is the one from the provider's tab; for Azure OpenAI, the image API version is set with the AI:AzureOpenAi:ImageApiVersion key on the Configuration screen (2025-04-01-preview by default).

Size

Maximum file size (MB): from 1 to 20 MB, 10 by default, for the image to edit and the mask. Beyond that, or for another file type, the request is refused before anything is sent.

What is sent to the provider

The prompt and, for an edit, the image and the mask. Nothing is kept on our side: neither the images sent nor the image produced are stored in the database or written to the logs; the image produced is returned to the feature that requested it, which decides what to do with it. The usage log only keeps the feature, the provider, the model, the tokens and the number of images produced. Retention by the provider depends on its contract.

Consumption and caps

Each image counts in AI usage (By capability breakdown). The Monthly cap (images produced) of the Usage screen and a feature's own cap (Features tab) block once reached. With the publisher's AI, images are deducted from the token credit.
